• Striated border

  • microvilli (2µm) (possibly covered with glycocalyx)
  • actin anchors to terminal web, pinocytic vesicles (caveolae)

• Brush border

  • microvilli (>2µm), irregular

• Stereocilia

  • branched villi, with no 9 + 2 microtubules

• Cilia

  • numerous, up to 10 µm long, with 9 + 2 microtubules
  • anchored in basal body with possible connection to centriole

• Flagellum

  • usually singular and >> than 10 µm long
