INTERACTIVE LAB EXERCISE

INSTRUCTOR OBJECTIVES:
 

  To Introduce Several Types of Scientific Methodology
 

    1) Recording Data by:
 

            a) measuring temperature using thermometer
 

            b) recording data by measuring temperature using thermometer
                    probes plus computer and software
 

            c) calibrating thermometer probes
 
 

    2) Processing Data by:

            a) entering raw data into database using computer plus software 
                    and producing 2D graphs from database or graphing results
                    by hand

            b) entering raw data into database using computer plus software
                    and producing 3D graphs/images from database (it is very
                    difficult to produce such graphs by hand)
 
 

    3) Analyzing Data by:

            a) by examining graphs

            b) by comparing 2D graphs with 3D graphs/images

            c) by comparing all graphs with numerical data
 
 

    4) Writing Report by:

            a) compiling observations, data, analyses, conclusions
 
 

    5) Designing New Experiment or variations of original
            experiment
