Minutes of the BK October 4 Meeting by this week's secretary, Alexis Thompson

October 18 (Wed.), 9:00 p.m.: next Blue Key meeting, Storch lobby Nov. 12 (Sun.): Blue Key Active/Applicant social at Lightner Tea room 1:30-2:30 p.m. Voting: 2:30-7:30 p.m. (this is an absolute time limit, we are working on ways to make it more efficient) Nov. 19 (Sun.): New member induction 4-6 p.m. IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT TO ANY ONE OF THESE EVENTS, please notify Lisa IMMEDIATELY. Remember everyone needs to participate in TWO service activities this semester. If you did Phonathon as one, please be sure Meghan has your name. Zoo Boo Halloween Carnival, October 30 and/or 31 from 5 - 8 p.m. Loaves and Fishes at First Presbyterian Church Oct. 29 either around 4 or 6 p.m. Chandler Estates Retirement Home, Saturday Nov. 18 (this one will be with the new inductees), for approximately 2 hours (10-12 a.m.?) Social: Tuesday, October 10th at Flats at 8:00 PLEASE COME! We will sponsor some form of snacks, and there will be only a little 'business' to discuss. Talk to Whitney about any further ideas for socials (i.e. Wed. night at Broadway 50/50 instead of our next meeting) Rubric: We had some problems with the printer, but everything is good now. There are plenty of pamphlets in Student Affairs for the people who still have to go speak to classes. Induction: Alexis Thompson, Kristy Davis and Kristen Doerfler will help Michelle Crow, the membership chair. Letters to applicants will go out Oct. 13 and application will be due Nov. 5. All of the members will be asked to be available for 10 interviews, with the applicants having the option of meeting with two members at once. The applicant will call you regarding scheduling, but we'll have a list of members and times at the Coates desk. More on this as the time approaches. On the topic of the applicant social (Sun. Nov. 12, 1:30 to 2:30), we decided to put emphasis on the "information system" aspect of the event. To reduce the awkwardness, we are also planning to have members and applicants seated in small groups to facilitate discussion. Voting will occur afterwards, but try not to pass this information on to the applicants. We are trying to make everything more efficient, but block off the time from 1:30 until 7:30 for this purpose. It is IMPORTANT that you be there to vote and be able to stay the entire time. If you have conflicts, please contact Lisa ASAP. The induction will be held Sun. Nov. 19 at 4 in the Holt Center.
