WELCOME

The BLACK STUDENT UNION FAMILY of Trinity University sincerely welcomes you to share in our experiences by viewing this web page. Although there is a small percentage of black students who attend Trinity, the Black Student Union is strong and active on campus. We participate in numerous volunteer activities throughout the city and on campus, host several dynamic speakers such as Colin Powel, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, William Grey III, Johnnetta B. Cole, and most importantly serve and assist the student body of Trinity University. Currently we are working to strengthen our bonds with each other, become even more actively involved on and off campus, and to expand our membership. Therefore, the Black Student Union needs your help. As a prospective student, YOU hold the power in your hands to carry on the legacy and work of the Black Student Union. YOU hold the power in your hands to continue the tradition of success for the Black Student Union. YOU hold the power in your hands to be a part of greatness and make a difference.

Come join our FAMILY! Our arms OPENLY WELCOME YOU!

BIG BROTHER/SISTER PROGRAM

The African-American population at Trinity is rather small and this experience can seem quite overwhelming. To help ease the fears and worries of incoming students about the environment at Trinity, the Black Student Union implemented a Big Brother/Sister program. We feel that this program will be a great asset to incoming students.

Those who choose to participate in the program will be paired up with an upper-classman in the BSU. This upper-classman will become their Big Brother/Sister and will then write and/or call their assigned incoming student to formally introduce himself/herself. At that time each Big Brother/Sister will tell his/her incoming student about his/her experience at Trinity, activities on campus, activities in which the BSU is involved, etc. Then the incoming student can respond with any questions that he/she may have and their Big Brother/Sister will answer them. Even after incoming students arrive at Trinity, they will keep their Big Brother/Sister throughout the school year who will assist them with anything that they need. The Big Brother and Big Sister program will help acquaint new students with the campus, activities, people, and organizations.

The goal of the BSU is to make the experience of new students at Trinity be the best that it can be. We hope that the Big Brother/Sister program will contribute to making the college lives of new students at Trinity a rewarding and extraordinary experience.

If you would like to receive more on this program, please contact one of the officers on the CONTACT US page.
