Visit the official Concert for the Cure website here! 2008’s Concert for the Cure raised over $15,000 for the American Cancer Society! On January 23, Gammas held our 3rd annual Concert for the Cure, benefiting the American Cancer Society. The event featured Texas music star Roger Creager, as well as Paul Eason, an up and coming singer/songwriter from Austin. Due to ticket sales as well as preliminary fundraising efforts this year, we were able to raise over $15,000! Thank you to everyone who donated their time and/or money to make this possible! We have chosen for a significant portion of our donation to be applied directly to Camp Discovery, an American Cancer Society program for children with cancer. Camp Discovery is a week-long summer camp for children age 7-16 who are either currently diagnosed with or in remission from cancer, and is provided by the ACS at no cost to the children or their families. If you would like more information or have questions about Camp, please contact Amy Walton at Amy.Walton@Trinity.edu . Our next project: The Concert for the Cure Foundation We are in the process of establishing The Concert for the Cure Foundation in order to better facilitate the event’s planning and purpose. The Foundation is charge of all planning and fundraising efforts, and currently includes Gammas as well as members Kappa Kappa Delta and Phi Sigma Chi fraternities. We are still in the preliminary planning stages, but ultimately would like to become our own 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. If you’d like to get involved (because let’s face it…we can always use a little help!), please contact 2009’s chair, Mackenzie Kelly at Mkelly4@Trinity.edu.
A Look Ahead at 2009…Bigger and Better than Ever! 2009’s Concert for the Cure will be held at Sunset Station’s Lone Star Pavilion in downtown San Antonio. The event will be open to the entire San Antonio community, which will allow us to greatly increase both attendance at the concert and our fundraising total! We look forward to establishing Concert for the Cure as an exciting city-wide tradition that can make a positive impact on our community. Get involved! Planning Concert for the Cure is no easy feat! Fundraising alone is a huge endeavor, and we appreciate any help we can get! One of our biggest fundraising methods is through corporate sponsors. If your company would be interested in partnering with us, or if you have a suggestion of someone else we can contact, please contact Amy Walton or Adam Simmons, our Foundation’s Corporate Fundraising Chair. If you’d like to make a donation to Concert for the Cure, please send cash or check to: Gamma Chi Delta, One Trinity Place, San Antonio, Texas, 78212. At this time, please make all checks payable to Trinity University’s Concert for the Cure. All donations are tax-deductible; The American Cancer Society will send you a receipt. Thank you for your support! J We are already well underway in planning for 2009’s event. Keep checking back for updates! |
