Our History
In
the Fall of 1980, there was a great deal of controversy over whether national
sororities and
fraternities should be instituted at Trinity. Four juniors decided they wanted something new
and different in the way of a sorority.
The four women were active in the university community, and did not have the
time to devote to a
social organization. However, they still felt the need for some sort of companionship and
support network. They felt that no other
established sorority met these requirements for them,
so they took it upon
themselves to create a
new, unique type of sorority. After some
discussion with friends, the four women
decided there was enough interest generated and that forming this
new type of "sorority" would be
worth the effort and risk.
Therefore, in the Spring of 1981, Zeta Chi became a reality.
Zeta Chi began with thirty-three charter members, all whom have graduated and
moved on to greater
things.
But, the sorority they created continues to change and grow as the members
themselves do as well.
