INTRODUCTION TO PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES
Final Project

For your final project you will conceive, design, draft, and construct a "prop"

that might be used on stage.  The item should be complex enough to challenge the skills you have learned in class.  You will be responsible for the purchase of the materials needed to complete the project.

Alternatively, you can design and build something that is useful or needed in the theater.  I will supply the materials for this.

All project ideas must be approved be me.

The Final Project consists of 3 components:

1)    Proposal (50 points possible)

This is a typed description of of the item to be constructed.  It must include the following:

Description of the item.

Types of materials that it will be constructed from.

Construction methods and techniques that will be employed.

Sketches, drawings, etc. explain the item.

A "production" schedule that details how you will meet your deadline.

A detailed list of the materials needed to construct the item.

A price list for the materials need to construct the item.

2)    Drafting

This is to be a complete and detailed drawing using the drafting styles, conventions, and methods learned in class.  It should be drafted on vellum, be in 1" = 1'-0" scale (minimum), and have plan, elevation, and section or side views presented (drafted) in the methods described in class.  You will not be allowed to start constructing your project until the drafting is completed.

3)    The completed project.
