The course focuses on modern laboratory techniques in cell and molecular biology. Research skills are developed through hypothesis generation, experimental design, implementation, data analysis, and scientific communication. Students will conduct guided-¬-inquiry projects utilizing technologies such as flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, gene expression analysis, and quantitative modeling. Students will be required to complete 3 hours/week in lab and 1 hour weekly in recitation. Students will be expected to maintain projects outside scheduled laboratory sections. (Offered every Spring). Prerequisites: BIOL 3413. This course may not be taken simultaneously with BIOL 4201.
