Hone your financial acumen

Trinity University offers a five-year accounting program consisting of a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting.

Although state laws require students to go beyond a traditional undergraduate degree program for CPA candidacy, the Trinity accounting major does more than simply set a foundation for graduate study. Student engagement with the accounting profession begins during their junior year, with a series of firm/student events and special topics courses that acquaint students with opportunities in the profession.

The majority of accounting students serve paid internships with the Big Four and other national firms and accept their permanent employment offers prior to applying for and beginning their fifth year of study.

Scholarships

Texas Society of CPAs
Texas CPAs and accounting organizations provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to students pursuing accounting degrees.

FASB Postgraduate Technical Assistants (Graduate Students)
Trinity has placed two students in FASB Postgraduate Technical Assistantships in the last six years. This is a highly selective honor - approximately seven students are selected across the country. This Assistantship is a one-year term, during which the individual becomes highly involved with the accounting standards-setting process and comes to have an in-depth understanding of the roles played by preparers, auditors, and users of financial information

Experiential Learning

Undergraduate Students
Accounting majors have opportunities for paid, for-credit internships and senior year internships.

Graduate Students
Trinity's Master of Science in Accounting students traveled to Washington DC to meet with representatives from the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, and the Center for Audit Quality. It was an invaluable learning experience for our graduate students, as they embark on the beginning of their professional careers.
