• Karl Pichler is the Prassel Professor for Professional Practice in Finance at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. He is responsible for overseeing the Student Managed Fund and for developing and delivering a practically relevant and academically rigorous curriculum for the University’s Finance degree. Prior to assuming a full-time role with Trinity, Mr. Pichler started a lending business within Scaleworks, a private equity investment firm based in San Antonio and before that, he spent 12 years at Rackspace, Inc. During his tenure, the company grew from $80m in Revenues to over $2bn, went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2008 (NYSE: RAX) and was ultimately sold to Apollo Global Asset Management in 2016. Mr. Pichler held multiple leadership roles within the company both in the US and in Europe and was the company’s Chief Financial Officer from April 2011 to May 2017. Before Rackspace, he was a practice leader and consultant with Stern Stewart & Co in New York. Mr. Pichler received a M.Sc. degree in Finance (magna cum laude) from the University of Bern, Switzerland and holds several professional designations (CFA, CIPM, CTP). He lives with his wife and three daughters in San Antonio, TX.
