COVID-19 update from Trinity University
Return to Campus Guidance for Students
Campus opening dates and important protocols for Spring 2022

Dear Trinity Students:

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to create a safe return amid the Omicron-driven surge. Please see the following guidance regarding return to campus. If you live on campus, Residential Life sent an email with dates and information for move-in this morning.

Campus Opening Dates
Campus will open to off-campus students beginning Jan. 25, and dining services will be available. Campus facilities, such as the Bell Center, will be closed until then. Classes will resume in person on Monday, Jan. 31.

Important Protocols for Return to Campus
All students should seek and receive a negative COVID test before coming back to campus. Please test within 72 hours of your return. An at-home rapid antigen test is acceptable. You only need to report a positive result, and you should do so by contacting the COVID Health Team immediately. The COVID Health Team will provide guidance on when you may return to campus.

Upon arrival, students will be required to repeat a baseline COVID test. Use this link to sign up for a testing time and date Jan. 25-28 in Murchison. You will be asked to limit your activities and interactions on and off campus until you receive a negative result from your baseline testing.

Please begin using the ProtecTU Daily Health Check 72 hours before your return to campus, and be sure to report any symptoms to the COVID Health Team. If you are sick, you should assume it’s COVID until it is determined otherwise.

New Updates to ProtecTU Protocols
In keeping with CDC and NCAA guidance, the new definition of “fully vaccinated” includes a booster shot for those who are eligible. Please provide documentation of your booster by Jan. 12. Individuals who are fully vaccinated (either received their primary COVID vaccine series but are not yet eligible for a booster, or are eligible and have received the booster) will not be required to quarantine if exposed.

Isolation and quarantine protocols are also being amended to reflect CDC and NCAA guidance. Please continue to check the COVID site for those updates.

Masks will be required in all public indoor spaces. KN95 masks are highly recommended and preferred; if you do not have access to a KN95, consider using a surgical mask under a two-ply cloth mask.

Please continue to check your email, the COVID website and social media for any additional updates. Finally, feel free to email the nervcenter@trinity.edu if you have any questions about ProtecTU Protocols.

In 22 months of the pandemic, we have never seen such rapid spread of the virus. While early indicators are that omicron is not causing severe illness, we cannot operate fully as a campus if large numbers of students, faculty and staff are out sick. Thank you for helping us limit the spread so that we can be together in-person soon!
