October 12 - October 16: Jazz & Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is a period from September 15 - October 15, recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic and Latino Americans to the history, culture, and achievements in the United States. KRTU celebrates the work of Hispanic artists and musicians this week with recordings from Jerry Gonzales, Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco, Manny Oquendo, Mongo Santamaria, Bebo & Chucho Valdez, and Poncho Sanchez to local artists Henry Brun, Pete Rodriguez, Jose Amador and Olivia Revueltas. October 19 - October 23: New Fall 2020 Releases

A change in season and the autumnal equinox brings us more recordings and releases from some of the year's biggest surprises so far. Chick Corea's live solo release, the introspection of trumpeter Ron Miles on Blue Note, and baritone saxophonist Claire Daly's salute to Rahsaan Roland Kirk are just a few of the highlights on the new release shelf to share with you this week.

October 26 - October 30: Soulful Contributions from the Adderleys

Saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, his brother and cornetist Nat, Nat's son Adderley Jr., and Adderley Jr's daughter Akina are all part of a musical family that goes back to the mid 1950's and the development of jazz as we know it today. This week we'll hear Nat Jr. talk about the family from a previously recorded interview, along with music from all four Adderleys and each of their unique sense of soul and feeling.
