Fall Membership Drive 2023: Local Recordings and Listener Requests
KRTU's Fall 2023 Membership Drive began on September 22, and will conclude Friday, October 6. This week we ask for your contribution during the Jazz Break at Noon, take listener requests, celebrate birthdays, and say thank you with plenty of your favorite recordings from local, national, and international artists.

Hispanic American Influence in Jazz
The Library of Congress, National Endowment for Humanities, and the Smithsonian Institution, among other entities, pay tribute during Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15, 2023) to generations of Hispanic Americans who have enriched and influenced the nation's cultural fabric. KRTU shares the history and accomplishments of New York-born artists including pianist Hilton Ruiz, bandleader Eddie Palmieri, and percussionist Ray Barretto, this week on the Jazz Break at Noon.

Third Man Records Limited Edition Vinyl Releases
Verve's By Request and Blue Note's 313 Series are a product of rock musician and independent label owner Jack White's record manufacturing plant and studios at Third Man Records, with locations in White's home of Detroit, MI and now in Nashville, TN. Since 2001, Third Man has pressed a wide net of rock, punk, folk, jazz, and assorted gems on the outside. This week, we'll listen to limited edition vinyl releases from White's recent acquisition to KRTU, including Albert Ayler's "Love Cry," 1970's "The Rubaiyat of Dorothy Ashby," trumpeter Thad Jones' early "Detroit/New York Junction," and Sun Ra's "Space is the Place," among the titles.

New 2023 Fall Releases
KRTU has a new stack of releases to listen to and enjoy for the change of season this week, with a variety of inspired recordings from artists reviving the sound of jazz. Guitarist Eric Krasno with drummer Stanton Moore, trombonist Audrey Ochoa, trumpeter and pianist Nicholas Payton, guitarist Jocelyn Gould, multi-instrumentalist Jeff Lederer's musical treatise on Arnold Schoenberg, and 1970's archival recordings from drummer Buddy Rich are all scheduled for air this week on the Jazz Break at Noon.
