The multi-year Student Information System (SIS) project includes several phases and workstreams. With the support and leadership of project sponsor, Jennifer Henderson, Ph.D., associate vice president for Academic Affairs, the team has completed the planning phase and is now in the throes of architect and configure.
Spring 2023 | Planning
Resources are dedicated for functional leads in Focus Areas (Financial Aid, Registrar, etc.) and backfills in place to alleviate operational overload.
Summer 2023 | Architect
This stage is where key decisions will be made about how the system will be built. Input from the functional leads and subject matter experts will inform these decisions
Fall 2023 | Configure
Initial configuration and testing of integrations. Current processes will be assessed in Focus Areas to outline improvement opportunities prior to building inefficient processes into Workday.
The SIS team is composed of cross-functional expertise with representation from Offices of Student Financial Services, Admissions and Aid, Academic Advising, the Registrar, and more.
“The team has put in an impressive amount of work,” said Carlton Hendrix, DX program director and executive director for the PPMO-COE. “We continue to apply lessons learned and are committed to engaging the community as the project progresses—whether through a change readiness survey, or testing and training sessions.”
This implementation will give staff and faculty the tools to do their jobs more effectively and alleviate critical pain points in pursuit of removing barriers for students as they navigate essential University practices (e.g., class registration, student account activity, and degree audits).
Whether recording grades, tracking progress towards a degree, establishing financial aid eligibility, or housing Residential Life information, the SIS will make sure that all student-related data is easily accessible in one place.
The recently redesigned project website seeks to provide clear goals and expectations along with ways for the community to stay informed.
If faculty, staff, or students have questions or feedback, please contact transform@trinity.edu or reach out to any member of the core SIS project team.
