Pre-Law

Prepare for law school through a flexible liberal arts education that strengthens your communication, research, writing, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.

Why Prepare for Law School at Trinity University?

Trinity does not require a set pre-law curriculum. Students may choose any major or combination of majors while working with pre-law advisers to select courses, gain experience, and prepare for the law school application process.

83% of Trinity seniors who applied to law school in 2024 were accepted.

Choose the Major That Fits You

There is no preferred pre-law major. Choose a field that interests you while developing the communication, reasoning, and analytical skills needed for law school.

What You’ll Study

Trinity does not prescribe a single pre-law curriculum. Any major or combination of majors can prepare a student for law school.

Students are encouraged to take courses that develop:

  • Written and verbal communication
  • Logical reasoning and creative thinking
  • Understanding of human institutions and values
  • Legal analysis
  • Awareness of moral and ethical issues
  • Knowledge of organizations, social relationships, and economics

Build the Skills Law Schools Value

A strong pre-law education is not defined by one major. It is built through courses and experiences that strengthen how students think, communicate, and engage with complex questions.

Communication
Develop clear, persuasive writing and confident verbal communication.

Analysis
Strengthen logical reasoning, critical thinking, and legal research skills.

Context
Build an understanding of institutions, values, organizations, social relationships, economics, and ethical questions.

Students should choose a major they genuinely enjoy and work with an adviser to select courses that support their interests and law school goals.

How Trinity Supports Pre-Law Students

Students who express an interest in law school may meet with a pre-law adviser from their first semester through graduation.

Advisers help students with course selection, experiential learning, career planning, and strategies for applying to law school.

No. Trinity does not offer or require a set pre-law curriculum, and law schools do not prefer one undergraduate major over another.

Students are encouraged to choose a major that interests them and take courses that build communication, reasoning, analytical, and research skills.

Most Trinity students take the LSAT in June after their junior year or in early October of their senior year.

The law school application process is usually completed by January of a student’s senior year.

Meet Your Pre-Law Advisers

Trinity students build personal relationships with invested faculty from a range of disciplines. Pre-law advisers help students connect their academic interests, professional goals, and law school preparation.
