Description

The awards are named to honor former Senator George Mitchell's pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process. As such, we are seeking candidates who have achieved academic excellence, a sustained commitment to community and service, and a record of leadership in their fields.

Scholars receive support for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered at an institution of higher learning in Ireland. The Mitchell Scholarship Program provides tuition, housing, a living expense stipend that includes a travel stipend. Up to twelve scholarships are awarded each year.

Eligibility

Who is eligible:

Undergraduate senior students who are:

  • 18 or over but not yet 30 at the time of application
  • Pursuing postgraduate study at an institution of higher learning in Ireland

Who is not eligible:

Undergraduate first-year, sophomore, or junior and graduate students
