Professional Achievements and Contributions

  • Used seismic refraction and gravity profile data and the modeling of those data to constrain the geometry and evolution of fault systems in the western U.S., including active faults in western Nevada and in Canyonlands National Park.
  • Developed SeismicCanvas, a software application for viewing and analyzing seismic data. The software also allows researchers to more accurately identify the first arrival times of seismic waves on reciprocal refraction seismic sections.

Biography

He received the Trinity University Trinity Tomorrow Award in 2021, and he received the Trinity University Award for Distinguished University, Community, and Professional Service in 2024.

Kroeger has used seismic refraction and gravity profile data and the modeling of those data to constrain the geometry and evolution of fault systems in the western U.S., including active faults in western Nevada and in Canyonlands National Park. He is currently developing ArcGIS Pro software extensions to calculate gravity terrain corrections that include detailed near-surface geology to better constrain sub-surface graben geometry and fault throughs in Canyonlands National Park.

He has also developed SeismicCanvas, a software application for viewing and analyzing seismic data. Most recently, Kroeger has adapted SeismicCanvas to allow researchers to more accurately identify the first arrival times of seismic waves on reciprocal refraction seismic sections. He is also adapting SeismicCanvas to run through WebAssembly within modern web browsers to ensure the long-term viability and wider use of his software.
