• John Huston came to Trinity University in 1983. He was promoted to associate professor in 1989 and to full professor in 1997. He is the author of more than 35 articles on monetary policy, airline economics and applied microeconomic topics. He co-authored a book in 2006 with Roger Spencer on the history of the relationship between the Federal Reserve and the stock market.

He has served on the Faculty Senate, the Faculty Development Committee, and the Promotion and Tenure Commission.  He served as Chair of the Economics Department from 1994 to 1997, and again from 2006 to 2015.  He was the Director of the Mathematical Finance program from 2013-2019.

Huston's greatest joy is interacting with students. He teaches many of the courses in the department's "Theoretical Concentration" and is often the adviser for those contemplating graduating training in economics. In 2007, he was awarded the Dr. and Mrs. Z.T. Scott Faculty Fellowship, Trinity's award for teaching and advising.
