• Julie Jenkins is the winningest coach among active NCAA Division III volleyball coaches. Following the 2016 season, Coach Jenkins stands at 883-399 (.689) over a 33-year career.  Coach Jenkins has completed 32 seasons at the Tigers helm. She has amassed a record of 854-378 (.693) since the 1985 season.

    Coach Jenkins stands third among all-time DIII coaches. Her overall coaching record includes a mark of 29-21 in 1984 at the Division I Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

    Beginning in 1991, when Trinity began competition in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the Tigers have posted a record of 772-238 (.764). Coach Jenkins’ teams have won 30 or matches in 17 seasons, including the 2014 campaign when the Tigers finished at 30-10. Trinity stands at 299-32 (.903) in SCAC play, and has won 18 conference championships (including 2016). The Tigers took home the conference trophy for 11 consecutive years from 1998-2008.

    Coach Jenkins was elected the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coach of the Year in 1999, after leading the Tigers to the NCAA Championship match. She has been selected as the AVCA South Region Coach of the Year seven times, and SCAC Coach of the Year 13 occasions (including 2016). Coach Jenkins earned both high accolades in 2013, when the Tigers completed the year with a 36-7 record and advanced to the NCAA Regional Championship.

    In addition to advancing to the NCAA Championship, the Tigers earned a No. 3 ranking in 2002, and have made five trips to the quarterfinals (including 2009). Trinity, which has competed in 22 NCAA Tournaments, also advanced to the Sweet 16 12 times, including two in a row in 2013 and 2014.

    Twenty-two Tiger student-athletes have been elected to volleyball All-America Teams since 1991. Amy Waddell (Stewart) ‘94, ‘97, became Trinity’s first female Division III All-American. She received the distinction in 1991 and 1992, and was inducted into the Trinity Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. Desiree Pratt (Gosselink) '01, '02 (master's); and Ashley Farrimond '04 were inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2015.

    Coach Jenkins was the interim head coach at VCU in 1984, leading the Rams to their first-ever Sun Belt Conference Championship.

    A native of Owego, New York, Coach Jenkins earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education from the College of William and Mary (VA) in 1981. A gifted student-athlete, Coach Jenkins competed in volleyball and tennis while playing for the Tribe, an NCAA DI team. She later received a Master of Science degree in education from James Madison University (VA).

    Coach Jenkins also serves as the Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. Additionally, Coach Jenkins teaches physical education classes.
