• Kimberlyn Montford [B.M., Westminster Choir College; M.M., Northwestern University; Ph.D., Rutgers University], is Associate Professor of Music History at Trinity University.

    Before joining the faculty in 2001, Montford directed middle and high-school choirs, orchestras, and bands in New Jersey and Washington state. She has also served as organist/choir director in congregations of the Episcopal Church and United Church of Christ.

    At Trinity, she teaches courses in music history, opera, popular music and music in culture and identity, as well as African American studies. Her research interests include Baroque sacred music, African-American music, gender studies, popular music, and film music aesthetics. She has articles published in Seventeenth-Century Music, Her edition of the spiritual madrigals of the Roman composer Paolo Quagliati is forthcoming from A-R Editions, as are essays on artistic efforts in early modern European convents for Ashgate and Le Musiciste del Lazio.

    She has served on the governing boards of the American Musicological Society-Southwest Chapter, the Society for Seventeenth-Century Music, and is currently co-director of African American Studies here at Trinity.
