What You’ll Study

New Media courses combine hands-on creation with critical analysis. Students learn how digital experiences are designed, how media technologies influence society, and how creative work can shape communication and culture.

The minor works well with majors in:

Art, communication, computer science, English, music, psychology, engineering science, and other fields interested in digital media and interactive design. You do not need to major in a technical or media field to pursue this minor.

Comprehensive Curriculum

Students complete 19-23 credit hours, of an interdisciplinary mix of application electives and context electives, combining hands-on courses with theoretical study. Coursework may include areas such as digital journalism, mobile gaming, and digital photography.
