International Student Financial Aid

International students may be eligible for merit scholarships and considered for need-based financial aid. While need-based funding is limited and highly competitive, Trinity works closely with students to help them navigate the application process and understand available opportunities.

All international applicants are considered for general merit-based scholarships based on the materials submitted with their application for admission. Historically, scholarships have ranged from $5,000 to $30,000 USD per year and are renewable for four years, or eight semesters.

The review criteria are similar to those for U.S. domestic applicants. Merit scholarships are based on the strength of the student's academic profile as measured by the following criteria: the rigor of and performance in secondary school coursework, standardized test scores, the strength of the essay, involvement outside the classroom, and recommendations from school officials.

Students who are only interested in merit-based scholarships are not required to submit an application for need-based aid.

Trinity is need-aware in its review of international applications, meaning we consider a student’s financial circumstances when making admissions decisions. Applying for need-based financial aid places you in Trinity’s most competitive applicant pool. Applicants who can contribute at least $45,000 USD per year toward their educational expenses are the most competitive for admission.

To be considered for need-based financial aid, students must submit the CSS Profile for International Students or the Trinity International Student Financial Aid Application (located in your Trinity admissions portal) with their application for admission. Applicants who indicate an intent to apply for need-based financial aid will not receive an admissions decision until their application for need-based aid is received.

Important: Need-based financial aid is not available for international transfer students, so Trinity does not accept transfer applications from international students who require financial aid.

Students applying for need-based financial aid must submit financial documentation as part of the application process.
