Support for Veterans and Military-Connected Students
VA education benefits can help cover tuition, housing, and other educational expenses. Trinity works with eligible students to coordinate these benefits and support a clear, manageable process.
To get started, you must apply through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and submit your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to Trinity’s Office of the Registrar.

How It Works
VA benefits are administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Once approved, your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is used to coordinate your benefits with Trinity.

Types of VA Education Benefits
Several VA programs may help fund your education. Eligibility and benefits vary by program.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill is for those who served at least 90 aggregate days on active duty, with or without a break in service, after September 10, 2001, or were honorably discharged from active duty for a service-connected disability after serving 30 continuous days following September 10, 2001. Recipients of Chapter 33 benefits may qualify to receive assistance with tuition and required fees, a monthly housing allowance, and an annual book stipend. VA tuition and fee payments are paid directly to Trinity. Students are responsible for notifying Student Financial Services if VA benefits will be exhausted before the start of the semester.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. Trinity participates in the Yellow Ribbon program only for degree-seeking undergraduate students who are 100% entitled under Chapter 33 (Post 9/11). Trinity has entered a voluntary agreement with the VA to assist with tuition and required fees above the annual private school tuition cap. Learn more about the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Chapter 35 benefits provide a monthly stipend to support education and training opportunities of eligible dependents/survivors (child or spouse) of a veteran who is permanently disabled, or deceased, as the result of a service connected disability.

As a private university, Trinity does not participate in the Texas Hazlewood Act.
