Congratulations to the 2020 HCADAA Momentum Award recipient Dr. Patrick Shay ‘03, M’05 (left) and the 2020 HCADAA Duce Award recipient Michael Portacci M'88 (right)! Earlier this fall, Shay and Portacci were honored through a virtual happy hour with HCADAA board and retired faculty members. Due to the global pandemic, plans to formally recognize and celebrate this accomplishment have been postponed until Alumni Weekend 2021.
Shay serves as associate professor in the HCAD Program and has made an indelible mark on the field of health care management with his teaching, his research, and as an innovative and collaborative colleague in the program. Portacci served as division president for the last 11 years with Community Health Systems (2006 - 2017) with responsibility for more than 30 hospitals in 7 states, net revenues over $4B, and EBITDA over $600M. Portacci is currently doing advisory work and is involved with two health care startups.
