Letter from the HCAA President - June 2018

Embracing our Network

It is difficult to believe that we are already mid-way through 2018 and the summer months are upon us.  As I look back to the first part of the year, I am so energized by the many HCAD alumni events that have taken place across our various markets.

As always, our gathering in Chicago in March was a fun time, full of energy and excitement. There, we caught up with both old and new friends, met the current students, and heard about what lay ahead for both Trinity University and the HCAD program. The HCAD Alumni Association hosted an evening reception on Monday, March 26, in Chicago for any of our alumni who were in town attending ACHE. We were so pleased to welcome nearly 80 attendees who represented graduates from the early 1970s through our current class. We will continue with these HCAD receptions in future years and hope to see everyone again next year.

During our HCAD Alumni Association board meeting in Chicago, we also discussed our continued commitment to marketing HCAD events that will help drive the connectivity across our alumni network. Since late January 2018, six HCAD alumni connectivity receptions have taken place in key Texas markets including Austin, Houston, and Dallas/Fort Worth, as well as in Oklahoma City, Chicago, and Denver. I have received messages from many of you who are interested in hosting an event or finding out who lives in your city.  Please continue to reach out, and we will continue to help connect our HCAD alumni across the nation.

Lastly, please mark your calendars for Alumni Weekend 2018, which will be held Oct. 18-21. We will begin our HCAD alumni events with an awards dinner at the Pearl Studio in San Antonio on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6 – 9 pm. During the evening, we will recognize and honor the 2018 Dean Duce Award recipient and the 2018 Momentum Award recipient. In addition to celebrating our award recipients, we will also recognize Mary Stefl, Ph.D., for her decades of dedication to the HCAD program and wish her a very happy retirement. Registration is already open for the awards dinner. And, as always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime to share your thoughts, ideas, memories, and feedback. Looking forward to connecting soon!

Warm regards,
