Illness and Exposure

We encourage those with respiratory illness symptoms to consider whether testing for COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses is necessary.  Most people with COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses (influenza or cold viruses) have mild illness and can recover at home.  People can treat their symptoms with over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, to help feel better.  Prescription medications are usually not necessary.  People who are at risk for serious illness due to respiratory illnesses (those who are over age 65, are immune-compromised, or who have chronic heart and lung conditions) should seek an evaluation with a medical care provider.  Please click the Having COVID symptoms button above to learn more information.

Respiratory illness evaluation and treatment services are available to all students at Student Health Services (Myrtle residence hall ground floor).

Risk-Reduction Plan

Trinity University Health Services, along with the Crisis Management Team monitor local and national public health sources and campus illness conditions to determine if changes in campus communication, services, and policies are recommended to maintain the health and safety of our community. In the event that a major change in protocols is needed (ie. mandatory masking), this will be communicated via campus executive leadership.  (Emergency Preparedness Policy)
