• Marc Powell enters his 19th year as Head Athletic Trainer at Trinity. 

    Since becoming a full-time staff member in 1999, Marc supervises the wellness and physical rehabilitation of student-athletes in 18 intercollegiate sports. In addition, Marc is in charge of the Athletic Training Room staff, consisting of two full-time athletic trainers, and student athletic trainers.

    He interned at Trinity in the fall of 1997, while attending the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Marc worked on campus for HealthSouth, a health services contracting agency, in 1998. In December of that year, HealthSouth appointed him the supervising athletic trainer at Trinity.

    Marc earned the Bachelor of Science in biology from UTSA in 1998.

    He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), and is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Texas. Marc serves on the NATA Specialty Awards Committee.  He is also a member of the Alamo Area Athletic Trainers Association, and is chairman of the Charles Cortez Scholarship Committee. In the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association, Marc is a member of the Registration Committee.

    Marc works closely with Trinity Professor of psychology Carolyn Becker on the University’s Female Body Image Program, dealing with eating disorders and other issues.

    He is extensively involved in the community, assisting in major sporting events, including NCAA postseason events. Marc serves as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor, and is a board member of the Still Water Christian Ministries. He is a life member of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition, and serves on the Medical Committee. Marc also volunteers as an athletic trainer for the San Antonio Rodeo held each February.

    Marc and his wife, Kara, are the parents of a son and two daughters, Kasen, Kallie and Kinsley, respectively.
