Spotlight on Dr. Katchie Cartwright

We are thrilled to announce a new content partnership with the internationally acclaimed jazz website All About Jazz, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. As part of this exciting collaboration, we are proud to welcome the album reviews of one of our very own dedicated community hosts, Dr. Katchie Cartwright, host of Caminhos do Jazz. Dr. Cartwright joined All About Jazz in 2023 as a staff writer. Since 2024, she has served as a contributing editor, editing reviews and continuing to write articles.

Dr. Cartwright is a standout member of our community, contributing to KRTU's specialty programming with her Brazilian-focused and globally minded program, Caminhos do Jazz. As a retired professor of music at Northwest Vista College, an accomplished Fulbright Senior Specialist, and a flutist and performer, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her work. Dr. Cartwright’s extensive background in musical performance and ethnomusicology makes her radio show a rich educational listening experience.
