Julian Dodd - "Appreciating Covers"

A philosophy professor at the University of Manchester, UK, Julian Dodd will discuss the nature and appreciation of musical cover-versions. Dodd works mainly in the philosophy of music, metaphysics, and philosophy of language; his views are often regarded as refreshing or notorious—and sometimes both.

Robert Crowe Presents the Music of Barbara Strozzi and Isabella Leonarda

On the 400th anniversary of Barbara Strozzi's birth and in light of the discovery of a misattributed Strozzi composition, male soprano Robert Crowe will present a concert of Strozzi’s works, augmented by those of the Novarese nun, Isabella Leonarda, born just a year later in 1620. Both of these women managed to compose and publish music of unusual sensitivity and spirit in spite of restrictive societal norms.
Daniel Gold - "The Life of a Dancer, the Work of a Choreographer"

Daniel Gold is a nationally recognized choreographer, performer, and teacher based in New York City. Gold will discuss his career and work as a performer, his approach to choreographing musical theatre, and the important role teaching and using art as a medium to give back to his community plays in his life and work.

Sol LeWitt was a leading figure of Minimalism and pioneer of conceptual art, and his wall drawings are executed directly on the wall, using predetermined line-making procedures set out by the artist. Led by a master draftsman from the LeWitt Foundation, Trinity students will create Wall Drawing 353 in the Michael and Noemi Neidorff Gallery.
Veronica Roberts - “Like A Musical Score: The Wall Drawings of Sol LeWitt”

Veronica Roberts is the curator of modern and contemporary art at the Blanton Museum of Art at The University of Texas at Austin. She has written extensively on modern and contemporary art and has held curatorial positions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Indianapolis Museum of Art, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
Kiese Laymon - A Reading with Commentary

Trinity’s English Department presents a reading by author Kiese Laymon. Laymon is an award-winning memoirist and novelist who is currently the Ottilie Schillig Professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of Mississippi. He is the author of Heavy: An American Memoir, Long Division, and How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America.

The Trinity University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of James Worman, will present a concert featuring Stieren Guest Artists Rusty Banks, Miho Sasaki, Michael Schelle, and James Syler.
