2020 REACH Symposium Announced
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for The Wall Street Journal to give keynote address

Trinity University's Department of Health Care Administration and the Centene Corporation are presenting some of the country's most prominent experts in health care delivery, policy, and administration at the 2020 REACH Symposium. This year’s symposium will discuss “Advancing Health Care: A Local and National Perspective.” The symposium will begin at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, March 19, at Trinity's Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.

Peggy Noonan, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for The Wall Street Journal and primary speech writer and special assistant to President Ronald Reagan, will deliver the lunchtime keynote address. Noonan is also the bestselling author of The Time of Our Lives and was a political analyst for NBC and MSNBC.

The symposium is free, but tickets are required for entry: Register here to reserve your spot. The cost of Noonan’s keynote luncheon is $25, and a separate registration is required.

Before Noonan’s keynote address, the symposium will present two panels: “At the Crossroads of Politics, Health Care, and Technology” and “Serving the Military and Veterans: Modernizing the Patient Experience.” Both will be moderated by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of American Action Forum.

At the Crossroads of Politics, Health Care, and Technology

Those who aspire to transform the way health care is delivered often do not have a strong understanding of how the legislative process functions. Similarly, those who know how to navigate the political realm do not always know how to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system. Finally, increasing technological advancements are now offering a more personalized approach to health care. This panel will bridge the gaps between politics, health care, and advances in technology.

Featured Panelists:

  • Ken Thorpe, Robert W. Woodruff Professor and Chair, Department of Health Policy and Management, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University
  • Ben Isgur, Health Research Institute Leader, PwC
  • Jose Morey, Health and Technology Speaker, Consultant for NASA, IBM, Hyperloop Transportation, and Liberty BioSecurity

Serving our Military and Veterans: Modernizing the Patient Experience

As a nation, we have a moral obligation to provide the highest quality health care to our active duty military and veterans. In order to deliver true patient-centered care, we must first recognize the unique concerns and challenges they face. This panel will discuss initiatives and innovations for our military and veteran community needed in order to modernize their health care experience.

Featured Panelists:

  • Dr. Raquel Bono, Former Director of the Defense Health Agency
  • Dr. Michael Charlton, Orthopedic Surgeon and Air Force Officer
