2021 Bid Day Gives Students New Opportunities
Trinity donors raise enough funds to waive Greek dues for 15 Tigers
Friday, April 30, 2021

For more than 75 years, Greek life has flourished at Trinity by focusing on support, teamwork, and service.

Trinity has done things differently from other schools—the University’s seven sororities and seven fraternities are all local and don’t accept new members until Bid Day each spring semester.

And Bid Day, where students officially join their new “brothers and sisters” by Miller Fountain for the first time, is worth the wait. New members wait eagerly in their dorm rooms for their bids to be accepted. Once they get the call, it’s a mad dash across campus, up Cardiac Hill, and through the Coates Student Center plaza to the fountain, where their excited friends await. Bizarre outfits, personalized jerseys handed down across generations, and contagious laughter are a must-have for any bid day participant.

In 2021, a lot has looked different about Trinity, including Bid Day. But what has remained constant is the support students received from Trinity’s community of families, friends, students, faculty, and staff. In partnership with the Greek Council, the University asked donors in April to help make Greek life more accessible for 14 deserving Pell Grant-eligible students by raising enough money to waive their dues.

Our community has responded, raising more than $3,780 for the dues waiver program so far. Trinity has met its goal of raising funds to assist 14 students - and we’ve also raised enough to fund number 15.

But at Trinity, we don’t just settle for meeting our goals—we always want to raise the bar. Right now, there are still more than 50 people in our Greek Community who are Pell Grant eligible.  These are future leaders who have chosen to be part of our Greek community, our lives, and our futures.

Will you choose to have their back? Making a gift, of any amount, to support the dues waiver program, tells our Tigers that our alumni, families, friends, and entire community wants to give them access to the experiences that make Greek life at Trinity truly unique.

For more than 75 years, we’ve done Greek life differently. If you’re ready to join us in making a difference for students, this is your moment:
