After reviewing an impressive variety of submissions from our students, the selection committee for the Coates Library Research Thing Prizes has announced the winners for 2024.

The 1530s: Surveying England's Decade of Change through Wills from Somerset by Nelson Rose ’25 (Mixed Methods Research Award)
Happiness: It Starts With You and Your Mind by Alyssa LaGrone ’26 (Multilingual Research Award)
This is the seventh year of the Research Thing awards and the 14th year that the Coates Library has sponsored an award for student papers, presentations, posters, and other types of products that involve research. Winners receive a $500 prize. The Research Thing Prize embraces a broad array of student work, from creative expression to traditional research outputs, recognizing the thought and energy required by many different types of research projects that result in the creation of many types of things.
