Althea Delwiche Leads TPR Panel on Election Disinformation
Communication chair shares expertise on dangers of misinformation

Althea Delwiche Ph.D., professor and chair of Trinity University’s Department of Communication, led a panel discussion exploring the dangers of disinformation for Texas Public Radio (TPR). The discussion was moderated by David Martin Davies, host of TPR’s The Source. Delwiche is a recognized thought leader on disinformation and A.I.

The panel’s discussion was centered around how disinformation can lead to misinformation, and misinformation, if unchecked, can lead to radicalization. The show aired two weeks before the 2024 U.S. presidential election, considered one of the most important elections in U.S. history and in which disinformation has been out of control.

The show, recorded in front of a live audience in the Irma and Nicolas Media Center at the TPR Headquarters, on Oct. 21, was then broadcast on TPR’s The Source on Oct. 22, 2024.
