Calvert Ghosts
Spooky tradition strikes again
“I’m normally a quiet guy, but I decided that tradition is more important than modesty.” - Unnamed ghost, 1998 Trinitonian
Each Halloween, students may see ghosts of a different kind sprinting across campus, cat calls and cheers echoing across the first-year quad. In a tradition that began in 1989, students from Calvert Hall, dubbed the Calvert Ghosts, streak across campus donning nothing but white flour, shaving cream, or baby powder to cover their sensitive parts. Though water balloons and other defenses have sometimes been deployed to counteract the Ghosts’ journey, this Trinity tradition brings delight to those expecting it, and shock to those who aren’t.
“It was a wild blur of Halloween happiness.” - Bystander, 1998 Trinitonian
