Virtual events expand attendance and participation at 2021 Alumni Weekend

It’s Fall, y’all—and that means busy weekends packed with fall festivities and fun with friends. If your plans aren’t bringing you to San Antonio for Alumni Weekend at the end of October, you can still join us virtually! Zoom on over to Alumni Weekend via a myriad of virtual options featuring and celebrating fellow alumni and Tigers at heart.

We’re excited to offer expanded virtual options this year as our community continues to focus on health, safety, and event accessibility. Virtual attendance means you can still have fun and reconnect from wherever your internet connection brings you. We hope you can join us for these featured virtual events throughout the weekend:

On Friday, October 22, go back to your liberal arts roots at Alumni College. Two tracks offer the chance to join esteemed faculty and alumni subject matter experts for classes from a variety of fields and perspectives.

  • For “A Master Class in Diverse Perspectives,” learn from Aisha Sultan '96; sociology professor Sarah Beth Kaufmann, Ph.D.; Nava Kavelin ‘06; and Simran Jeet Singh '06, Ph.D.
  • In “Topics in Healthcare,” hear from panelists including San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg '99, Mike Roussos M'03, and Lakesha Jimmerson Brooks M'04 on panels moderated by HCAD professors Amer Kaissi, Ph.D., and Ed Schumacher, Ph.D., and entrepreneurship program director Luis Martinez '91, Ph.D.

That evening, celebrate the amazing accomplishments of fellow alumni at the virtual presentation of the Alumni Award Ceremony. The ceremony will honor the 2020 and 2021 alumni award winners, including awarding the Distinguished Alumni, Spirit of Trinity, Outstanding Young Alumni, Tower 5, Fraternity & Sorority Alumni Advisor of the Year awards.

On Saturday, October 23, join your class reunion virtually for a toast. Reunite with members of your class and celebrate your own histories and accomplishments in a festive atmosphere for all ages. President Anderson will toast to all reunion classes throughout the evening—if your family is celebrating multiple reunions, you can hop from one virtual toast to the other! Registration is required.

Additional virtual events will occur throughout the weekend, including Fiesta with the Faculty on Friday and an alumni “In Memoriam” service and the President’s All-Alumni Reception on Saturday. Of course, you can always watch Tiger athletics at home on the Tiger Network, including men’s and women’s soccer on Friday evening and men’s soccer on Sunday afternoon.

Check out the full schedule for all virtual opportunities—virtual events are denoted by a Tiger emoji 🐯—and to register today. Virtual admission costs $15 per person for the Class of 2010 and prior; young alumni in the Classes of 2011-2021 receive a discounted virtual admission for $10 each.
