Handidoor Wins $45,000 at Trinity’s Stumberg Venture Competition, featured on KSAT News
Student startup earns top honors and a surprise bonus for creating an accessible automatic door device
Trinity University student startup Handidoor won the 10th annual Louis H. Stumberg Venture Competition, earning $45,000 in prize money. Co-founded by Trinity students Nathaniel Troxel ’27 and Xadrian Huerta ’26, Handidoor developed an accessible, mobility-friendly automatic door-opening device inspired by Troxel’s rehabilitation experience after a car accident. The team received the standard Stumberg $25,000 grand prize, an additional $20,000 surprise bonus, plus $5,000 from the seed round and were awarded $500 as the competition’s fan favorite.
