Kelly Lyons Shares Climate Change Expertise on Special Panel with Univision 41 San Antonio
Experts in San Antonio warn that rising heat and drought are already reshaping daily life across South Texas

Kelly Lyons, Ph.D., Trinity University professor of biology, participated in “Cambio Climático: Una Amenaza Global,” a panel discussion with Univision 41 San Antonio. The focus of the discussion was on climate change as an urgent, global crisis with local implications, emphasising that it is not a distant threat but something affecting communities right now. The panel featured meteorologists and climate experts such as Lyons, who discussed how phenomena like flash floods, wildfire risk, and hurricane intensification are already being felt, not only in major global events but in places like South Texas. The panel discussion gave viewers facts about the causes and consequences of warming, while also encouraging behaviour changes and community readiness.

Throughout, the report maintained a bilingual-friendly perspective, placing special emphasis on how Hispanic communities in the San Antonio area are impacted, highlighting equity and local action alongside the broader global narrative.

“Cambio Climático: Una Amenaza Global” was broadcast on Univision 41 San Antonio, the local Spanish-language television station for the Univision network.
