KRTU 2024 Year in Review

As we reflect on an exciting year at KRTU, we are reminded of the vibrant energy and community spirit that define our mission. From impactful events to new partnerships, 2024 was a year of growth, innovation, and meaningful connections. Here’s a look at some of our highlights:

1. Celebrating Jazz Music with the South Texas Jazz Project:
We kicked off the year with an unforgettable celebration of jazz through the South Texas Jazz Project, featuring the incredible Adrian Ruiz. This special event was broadcast on KLRN and taped at the Carver Community Cultural Center, offering a powerful tribute to the rich jazz traditions of South Texas. The performance not only showcased local talent but also brought the community together to celebrate the timeless art of jazz. It has also been nominated for a Lone Star Emmy.

2. Expanding Community Engagement:
In 2024, we increased our community engagement with The Garden Nights series at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. This series offered a unique blend of live music and nature, bringing people together to enjoy performances in one of San Antonio’s most beautiful outdoor spaces. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community in a setting that celebrates both art and the natural world.

3. A Milestone in Public Support & Engagement:
This year, KRTU experienced incredible support from our community, as our listeners and supporters attended events, enjoyed our programming, and actively engaged with the station. The turnout for events like IndieFest, JazzSAlive, Jazz in the Garden, Garden Nights, and Music for Listeners highlighted the deep connection we share with our audience and demonstrated that KRTU continues to be a valued cultural and musical resource in San Antonio.
