Support Students This Giving TUesday
Strengthen the critical funds that help Tigers where they need it most by Tuesday, December 3

In his first semester at Trinity University, Leonardo Jose Angel Guzman ’28 is busy preparing to be a political science major. He’s attending Latinx leadership classes, has his sights set on joining a business fraternity, blows off steam playing club volleyball, and has even ventured out into the outside world to attend the Met Gala and to network with the mayor of San Antonio, alumnus Ron Nirenberg ’99.

You know what he’s not doing? Wasting time and energy worrying about financial burdens, thanks to support from Trinity’s critical funds, which you can support during Giving TUesday, this December 3rd.

“Coming into Trinity, I was worried about school being too expensive,” says Guzman, who has received support in the form of a dorm kit of supplies from Trinity’s Necessity Fund and textbooks through the Skyline Scholars program. “But Trinity makes sure that everybody feels like part of the community. I use the supplies from the move-in kit every day, and I'm always talking about how blessed I am not to have to worry about the cost of books. A lot of students out there are in debt, but it’s nice to know that someone else is willing to invest in my education.”

Guzman’s Necessity Fund move-in kit included essential supplies, including a laundry basket, detergent, fabric softener, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and even a lamp that makes late-night studying easier. “Things that you wouldn't think about as you're going into college but are necessary,” Guzman says.

And Guzman has made the most of his opportunities as a Skyline Scholar, a program that helps smooth the transition from high school to college. Skyline Scholars get early access to campus, the chance to immerse themselves in an academic environment before classes start, and help with textbooks and other academic support. “It felt really good to have that advantage,” Guzman adds.

Right now, you can give more Trinity students these same chances to focus on success and keep them from worrying about the essentials. Consider supporting any of Trinity’s critical funds by (or on) Giving TUesday, December 3, to make an immediate impact on students:
