Trinity Announces Policy Maker Breakfast Guests
Meet the four guest speakers for 2022–2023

Trinity University is excited to announce the 2022–2023 Policy Maker Breakfast Series guest speakers: Theresa Payton, Geoff Colvin, Mara Liasson, and Erica Dhawan. The University is proud to invite these national and international leaders to the city to present their lively and informative commentary on current and emerging issues. 

The Policy Maker Breakfast Series began in 1981 to foster a connection between Trinity University and the San Antonio business community. Over the past 41 years, the Policy Maker Breakfast Series has become the premier event of its kind in the city, attracting an extraordinarily diverse, intellectual, and influential audience. The series is sponsored by the Stevens Academic Enrichment Fund and the Office of Conferences and Special Programs. 

This year, the breakfast and presentations will be held in the Grand Ballroom at The Westin San Antonio North at 9821 Colonnade Blvd. For each event, breakfast will be served at 7:20 a.m., and the program will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a question and answer session. 

Tickets for the complete Policy Maker Breakfast Series, which include all four breakfasts, cost $170, and tickets for individual breakfasts are available for $50. Tickets for the individual breakfasts will be made available on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022. Theresa Payton is one of the nation’s most respected authorities on cybersecurity. A visionary U.S. patent-holder in security design, she made history as the first-ever female White House CIO. Today, she is president and CEO of Fortalice Solutions.

Payton’s many awards include the 2019 Woman Cybersecurity Leader of the Year and Cybersecurity Crusader of the Year (CISO Magazine). Business Insider named her one of the top 50 Cybersecurity Leaders, and in 2021, she was one of Award Magazine’s Top 50 Women in Tech. Cyber Security Experts named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in Cyber Security.

Payton is the author of multiple industry-leading books on IT strategy and cybersecurity, including Manipulated: Inside the Cyberwar to Hijack Elections and Distort the Truth, which The Guardian included on its 2022 list of the “Top 10 Books About Cybercrime.” She frequently appears in the media and starred in the former CBS TV crime series Hunted.

Mara Liasson is a national political correspondent for NPR. Her reports can be heard regularly on NPR’s award-winning newsmagazine programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Liasson provides extensive coverage of politics and policy from Washington, D.C., focusing on the White House and Congress and reports on political trends beyond the Beltway.

Each election year, Liasson provides key coverage of the candidates and issues in both presidential and congressional races. During her tenure, she has covered seven presidential elections, in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016. Prior to her current assignment, Liasson was NPR’s White House correspondent for all eight years of the Clinton administration.
