Trinity University's campus lies just moments away from the heart of downtown San Antonio, offering the Trinity community easy access to experience traditions such as Fiesta San Antonio. Fiesta began in 1891 as a way to honor the memory of the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto. Over the years, it has evolved into a major celebration of the city's diverse cultures and heritage.
“Trinity University is excited to participate in the vibrant culture of San Antonio. Let’s show our Tiger Pride and have fun while engaging in this well-loved tradition,” says Dr. Brandi P. Jones, vice president for People, Culture, and Community.
Trinity’s 2025 Fiesta medal was designed by creative director Anh-Viet Dinh ’15 and graphic designer Fred Valenzuela. It draws inspiration from the shapes and patterns of notable doors across campus that were hand carved by Lynn Ford, master wood craftsman and brother of O’Neil Ford, the original architect of Trinity’s skyline campus. This particular tile features the door to the Mach Long Gallery in the Korbell Great Hall.

Fiesta typically lasts for several days and features parades, concerts, food and drink events, art exhibitions, and other festivities. It's one of the largest and most anticipated events in San Antonio, drawing visitors from all over the world. As the event continues to evolve and captivate audiences worldwide, Trinity stands as a gateway for its community to partake in this iconic celebration, forging unforgettable memories and fostering a deep connection to the spirit of San Antonio. This year, you can catch Trinity at two major Fiesta events:
Texas Cavaliers River Parade: Monday, April 28
Join the Trinity University Alumni Association and the San Antonio Alumni Club as they invite you and your family to partake in one of the premiere Fiesta events, the Texas Cavaliers River Parade! Delight in the festivities from the exclusive confines of the Grotto, a specially reserved private party space for Trinity alumni and friends. Battle of Flowers Parade: Friday, May 2
The Texas legends, the Josh Abbott Band, will serve as grand marshal of this year’s Battle of Flowers Parade. They will lead an amazing lineup of marching bands, beautiful floats, balloons, vintage cars, horseback cavalcades, and San Antonio’s Fiesta royalty, weaving together the rich musical heritage of the Lone Star State and the vibrant colors of Texas in bloom.
Trinity faculty, staff, students, and alumni are invited to come together to celebrate and embark on the 2.6-mile trek through downtown San Antonio for the Battle of Flowers Parade. Last year, our iconic tiger-shaped helium balloon won first place in the parade’s balloon category, and we need your help to defend our title! Register now to join in the parade. Spots are limited.
