Trinity to Launch 1869 Challenge Sept. 16-17
Alumni, families, faculty, staff, students, and friends will unite to support Tigers

Trinity’s 1869 Challenge is your chance to make a difference for students during a pivotal moment in their lives.

For 1,869 minutes–starting Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. CDT and ending at 11:59 p.m. CDT on Sept. 17– Trinity alumni, families, faculty, staff, students, and friends will unite as One Trinity to support current students. During this time, your gift—for scholarships, sorority and fraternity life, music, athletics, or anything in between—will support excellence and achievement, access and inclusion, and health and wellness at Trinity.

Throughout the Challenge, keep your eye out for specific challenges. Some have matching gifts that let you increase the impact of your gift! Here are a few examples—out of many more—to get you started:

The John Donahue Student Award

This award commemorates Trinity anthropology professor John Donahue’s lifelong commitment to social justice by providing financial support to students who want to expand their intellectual experience with an internship, community-based research activity, or a community service project.

Trinity’s Choral Challenge

Utilizing highly creative virtual choir performances and upcoming internet-based concerts, the Trinity choral program remains committed to making music and connecting with audiences. But the choirs also acknowledge that these technological means are no replacement for live performance and are eager to emerge from these challenging circumstances stronger than ever. Consider supporting the choral program to enable musical opportunities that will springboard the program to a place among the finest collegiate choral programs in the country.

Athletics

Trinity’s varsity athletes bring the competition every day. Now, you can show them your competitive spirit by donating to the sports team of your choice: The team with the most unique donors will win an additional $3,500; the team with the most gifts will win $2,500; and the team with the highest dollar amount raised will take $2,500.

Parent Council Challenge

The Trinity University Parent Council executive board challenges parents to make a gift to the fund of their choice. If 150 gifts are made, the board will unlock $12,000 towards University funds.

Ping Pong Challenge

This challenge is a fun, competitive way for Trinity Student Ambassadors to encourage other students to make a gift. Starting at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 16, every student gift, of any amount, made before 4:30 p.m. on either giving day will earn that donor one ping pong ball that will be “raced” down the acequia at Northrup. At 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, the race will be shown on Trinity’s Instagram account, and the winner will be announced! The winner earns an additional $100 towards the area of their choosing.
