Trinity University’s Board of Trustees in May extended the contract for President Vanessa B. Beasley, Ph.D., through 2031, recognizing the impact of her leadership since becoming the University’s first female president in 2022. Former Board Chair Ted Beneski praised Beasley’s “thoughtful and innovative leadership,” noting that Trinity’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading liberal arts and sciences universities has continued to grow under her direction.
In light of the extension, The San Antonio Business Journal published a Q&A with Beasley, in which the president discusses the university’s strategic plan, Ready. Set. Rise. The plan expands opportunities for student success through initiatives such as the First-Gen Program, undergraduate research and internships, and, among other initiatives, stronger partnerships with San Antonio’s business community.
Beasley shared her vision, which is rooted in the enduring value of a liberal arts and sciences education—preparing graduates to think critically, adapt to emerging technologies, and lead with curiosity, sound judgment, and purpose. She also talked about the important relationships between the university and the local business community, and how San Antonio and a liberal arts environment are strategic advantages for Trinity and the Neidorff School of Business.
