Josue Parra accepts HSF award on stage
Trinity Senior Named Hispanic Scholar of the Year
Josue Parra '24 selected out of 25,000 scholars by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Senior Josue Parra '24 was chosen from a pool of 25,000 scholars to receive the Scholar of the Year award from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), a title only given to two students yearly. HSF strives to provide its scholars with the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond and has awarded more than $730 million in scholarships along with programs and support services for the students.

Josue is proud to represent the Hispanic community and feels that this award testifies to all of the sacrifices that the people in his life have made for him to be where he is today. It honors his parents, who came to this country to give his family a better chance at life and worked day and night to support him and his siblings in pursuing higher education. He believes this award is the beginning of a path to success for him and the Hispanic community and shows that anyone can accomplish their goals regardless of background.

As Josue reflects on his time at Trinity, he shared, “Even before arriving at Trinity, the team here has gone above and beyond both academically and personally to ensure my needs are met and my voice feels heard. For me, this has resulted in a compounding pattern of growth that gives me the confidence to move forward and continue to achieve the goals I have set for myself. The Michael Neidorff Business School at Trinity has provided me with the academic foundation required to land internships at The Federal Reserve, J.P. Morgan, and Blackstone, in addition to providing me with a network of lifetime colleagues and friends.”

Josue is graduating with a finance degree and a data science minor this May. During his time at Trinity, he was involved with the Men’s Track and Field team, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, First Generation Investors, and Tri Alpha, a first-generation honor society. Upon graduation, Josue will move to New York to work as an analyst with The Blackstone Group. After working for four years in the financial services industry, he plans to pursue an MBA degree at one of the top ten programs in the nation. Josue’s career mission is to democratize the flow of capital to all deserving entrepreneurs and businesses, eventually becoming the general partner of his own venture capital firm.
