Trinity University’s Amy Stone Highlights the Importance of Honoring Trans Lives During Interview with San Antonio Report
A downtown vigil to honor transgender and gender-nonconforming people lost to anti-trans violence

The San Antonio Gender Association (SAGA), Pride Center San Antonio, and other local LGBTQ advocacy groups gathered at a special vigil downtown to commemorate transgender individuals lost this year to anti-trans violence. Amy Stone, Ph.D., chair and professor of Trinity University’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, who specializes in LGBTQ+ issues, spoke with the San Antonio Report. They said the vigil was important because “most of the people honored are trans women, specifically trans women of color,” and the event offered a way “to honor their memory.” Read Stone’s interview here.
