Viva Mexico! This fall saw fruitful connections with partner institutions in Mexico, from first-year experiences to forming business plans.

Over the University's Fall Break, first-years enrolled in the First-Year Experience (FYE) "Inventing Mexico" examined key aspects of Mexican history, geography, and culture, including issues of nationality, class, race, gender, and politics during a week-long program in Mexico City. Along with their FYE professors, these students explored aspects of Mexican culture that serve as a gateway to further study of other Latin American countries.

Another group of students looked specifically into "Doing Business in Latin America," taught mostly in Spanish jointly with a professor from Monterrey Tec in Monterrey, Mexico. In international teams, students learned about applied business, entrepreneurship, and Latin American culture. After the Trinity students spent time at Tec, the Tec students came to Trinity, and teams joined forces to elaborate on business plans intended to import and export goods and services to and from Mexico.

And during Monterrey Tec's "Semana i," a hands-on week of experiential learning opportunities from Oct. 29 - Nov. 1, four Trinity mathematics and business analytics students and a team of three professors analyzed real-word data from the Monterrey Football Club, Rayados. After an intensive week in analysis and modeling, they presented results to the Club's director for analytics.
