DFW Alumni Cluster Event
Panel asks and answers question: Why Do You Care If I’m Healthy?

On Tuesday, September 27, the Trinity Dallas Alumni Chapter co-hosted a panel on population health with the University of Texas at Dallas. The event was held at UTD’s Jindal School of Management and featured a panel of DFW health care leaders. The discussion was moderated by Britt Berrett, the program director of UTD’s health care administration program. The panelists included:

  • Karim Kaissi '07, Senior Director of Accountable Care Operation for Texas Health Resources
  • Dawn Zieger, Executive Director of Access & Integration for JPS Health Network
  • Ahmad Gaber, Director of Healthcare Deal Strategy for PwC
  • Wendy Oberdick, MD, Vice President of Network Performance for the Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance

The panelists defined the term population health and discussed why initiatives related to population health have become increasingly important to health care systems, insurance companies, and employers as the U.S. health care system moves from a fee-for-service model to a value-based model. The panelists also offered career advice to UTD health care administration students who attended the event. The event was well received by attendees and the Trinity Dallas Alumni Chapter plans to partner with UTD’s health care administration department on similar events in the future.
