What we do

The Office of General Counsel is dedicated to advancing Trinity University's mission and providing valuable and timely legal guidance supporting that mission.

The General Counsel acts as the University’s primary legal officer and carries out the following responsibilities:
 

In-House Counsel

Performs the traditional functions associated with in-house counsel, including, but not limited to, providing advice on all legal matters impacting the University and assisting the Chief Compliance Officer's efforts to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Thought Partner

Serves as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Leadership Team.

External Counsel Oversight

Engage and supervise the work of outside legal counsel, considering the nature of the services they provide and their fees. After engaging them, the General Counsel ensures that the services are delivered in a way that benefits the university.

University Policy Administration

Oversees the process for the College’s creation, amendment, and retirement of University policies.
