Guiding Principles

Educate

Through educational programs and resources, SIB aims to deepen understanding of inclusion and belonging. Through workshops, dialogues, and campus initiatives, we promote cultural awareness, critical reflection, and skills to engage thoughtfully while fostering a culture of care and mutual respect.

Engage

SIB fosters meaningful connections by creating opportunities for students to participate in community-centered programming, connect with peers, staff, and faculty and the San Antonio community. We encourage students to intentionally engage on campus and locally to foster spaces where students feel welcomed, supported, and connected to the broader campus community.

Empower

We promote a culture of care in which all students have the opportunity to succeed. By providing mentorship, guidance, and opportunities for growth, we support students in developing confidence, leadership, and agency to successfully navigate their college experience and post-secondary endeavors.

All students, regardless of identity or background, are welcome to participate in SIB events and programs.

Policies of Inclusion and Respect

The Student Inclusion and Belonging Office is here for all students, and we believe that the Trinity community should be one that makes all students feel welcomed, valued, and included.

While policies continue to be developed and refined, we are proud to have a Chosen Name Policy, Gender Neutral Housing Policy, and a Transgender Inclusion Statement, to help provide an inclusive campus experience. The University also offers single-user, gender-neutral restrooms, which are available throughout campus.
