COVID-19 update from Trinity University
COVID Update: March 14-21
Current statistics/numbers in the last week
Dear Trinity Community:

Now that we are all back on campus and ready to tackle the rest of the semester, we wanted to share our post-Spring Break transmission numbers while updating you on how future reports can be accessed.

  • Number of positives the last 7 days: 6
  • Number on campus in isolation: 0
  • Number of tests performed due to symptoms or exposure: 38
  • Number of surveillance tests performed: 141
  • Number of positives from surveillance testing: 0
  • Current campus indicator level: Green
  • Current Bexar County COVID-19 risk level: Low

Based on current trends, we will post future transmission numbers on a weekly basis on the Trinity COVID website, rather than send them by email. Of course, if we see another surge we will return to email communications so that you may have the information readily available to you.

In fact, we are monitoring the newest COVID variant Omicron (BA.2), which is causing a spike in cases in Europe. This strain shows a similar transmission rate and disease-severity to the Omicron variant, and COVID vaccinations continue to be highly effective against this latest strain. Receiving the recommended booster doses further decreases the risks associated with this variant.

As the Health and Wellness COVID workgroup continues to monitor campus and local conditions, and as we celebrate the current low infection rates, we continue to recommend the following:

  • Proper hand hygiene
  • Staying up-to-date on your COVID vaccinations.  At this time the CDC has not approved a 4th booster dose.
  • Reporting COVID-like symptoms to the COVID Health Team promptly.
  • Reporting positive at-home COVID tests promptly to the COVID Health Team.
  • High quality masks worn indoors by those who are immunocompromised or unvaccinated to afford maximal protection due to the increased risk for severe COVID infections in these groups.

Finally, the COVID Health Team continues to be available for those seeking testing due to symptoms or exposure.  Please contact the clinic at 210-999-8235 or by email at covidhealthteam@trinity.edu.

Thanks all!
